Title: ‘tasogare’

This abstract woodland scene shifts from lavender dusk into a lively mix of coral, orange, and deep blue. Handwritten text adds a quiet, poetic note: “At dusk, light changes nature; the trees speak another language.” A landscape as an emotional experience, colour as a way of registering change, and language as a prompt to slow down and look again. The painting presents a woodland without trying to describe it literally. Dark, branching forms gather through the centre and lower half, while lavender, coral, orange, peach, blue, cream, and pale yellow create the sensation of light shifting across foliage.
‘tasogare’ is a clear expression of my interest in the moment when a familiar landscape becomes unfamiliar through light. Its vivid palette and handwritten reflection give it a recognisable voice, while its abstract structure prevents it from becoming a straightforward woodland painting, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in a moment in time they may have encountered at some point.
