Title: Abbey Steps Tea Rooms, Whitby

This painting was created after I completed VIEW FROM KILN YARD. The scene is as you face South looking towards the Abbey Steps Tea rooms, and the old Grade II listed cottages that flank it. At the base of the 199 steps there is also the Donkey Path, which is a steep slope below and parallel to the 199 steps which leads to the top of St Mary’s Church Yard. Whether climbing via the steps or the slope of the Donkey Path, the effort is rewarded by the breathtaking views at the summit, and for those descending there are welcoming refreshments and rest at the Tea Rooms, or the nearby Taverns.
