Title: Whitby Abbey (Pop Art) Landscape

One of the most photographed landmarks in Yorkshire is Whitby Abbey. It has probably been captured by camera over a million times, there are thousands of photo prints for sale to the public by professionals and countless art prints from paintings and drawings by amateur and established professional artists alike too.

Creating a composition of the Abbey that hadn’t been done before was a real challenge. I’m influenced by many art movements and artists and illustrators, both past and contemporary. To create this artwork I manipulated one of my own photos in Photoshop and created an image that is influenced by Andy Warhol, the 1960’s Pop Artist and his famous Marilyn Monroe Screenprints from that era.
