Title: The Pantomime Horse

Imitating a photograph taken in the dark, I ensembled this final piece inspired by Kathe Kollwitz on an A4 cartridge paper canvas with the aid of charcoal and an eraser as mediums. The piece evokes a melodramatic, high-priestess enigma with the use of feminine attire and a real snake. It became automatic around this part of the series that the work I was producing was portraying something more sinister but keeping the anonymity of the figure.

I feel as though the background supports the figurative of the piece as it provides a space for the character to prove its existence among us.

In this final piece, I am drawn to my use of negative space against the charcoal to establish the tone of the figure, utilizing the imitation of hard light to reflect the unnatural lighting and its low angle placement.
