Title: Lumley Moor Reservoir
One in a series of two oil paintings, depicting Lumley Moor Reservoir in autumn. I was interested in how the trees formed a ring of shelter around the reservoir bank, providing protection from the open moorland beyond. I used thin glazes of oil paint to interpret the weathered and gnarled shapes of the trees in the exposed location, the changeable weather conditions, and fluctuating water levels. The Original painting was exhibited at ‘Spot 19’, Richmond Station, 2019; and ‘The Great North Art Show’, Ripon Cathedral, 2019.
