Title: Corus Steel Redcar
I visited Corus in the hope of finding them ‘puddling’. Ex Blast furnace workers would recognise this term but no such luck. In the foreground is the area where the ‘puddling’ usually takes place, and on this particular summer visit I was taken by the golden colour of the very dry field. It was a blazing hot day and as I packed my gear away I put this painting of the roof of the car. Within seconds massive raindrops started falling from a cloudless sky and before I could rescue the canvas large blobs of water already lay on the wet surface. These left some very interesting marks which added to the foreground of the field of gold so I left them.
