Title: Civilisation 2

I created this painting while considering humanity – where we’ve come from and where we are now and our treatment of each other and animals. The subtitle for this piece is ‘A History of Death’.
I began with a layer of ochres, umbers and terracotta type colours. Then came the greens and purples. The electric blue was the last to go on before the cave art references: the central animal and the people. Then all was surrounded by foreboding black tower blocks and then finally spattered with blood red.
The figure at the top represents a few different things. I’ll leave that one up to the viewer.
