I love the blankets of fog that often settle around Yorkshire in the valleys and the meadows. There’s something otherworldly about it, the inability to see what’s out there.
Old Norse and Anglo Saxon folklore tied fog and mist with transitions: into different realities, different states of being, different phases. Magical or supernatural occurrences could happen within the veil of mist.
In a contemporary sense, we stand on the precipice of change by our own doing. But there’s something comforting about being surrounded by our blanket of fog.
