I became a full time pet portrait and wildlife artist in October 2020 having been in medical research for over 30 years. Originally from Cheshire, I moved to Leeds in 1988 and now live in Horsforth with my partner Mat and our whippet Ned, who features in some of my work! I have always had a love of drawing ever since I can remember, especially horses, and in fact one of my teachers at grammar school said if I could have brought horses into maths I would have done!
Having this love of animals and art let me to pursue, quite by accident, my second career. I take on pet portrait commissions and my books fill months ahead which is wonderful. I specialise in pastel portraits although I also work in graphite and coloured pencil. As well as gorgeous pets, I love drawing wildlife so these are the basis of some of my original pieces and I’ve also completed some wildlife commissions.
I’ve been fortunate enough to receive some awards for my work and regularly take part in exhibitions and competitions. My work has sold both in the UK and America. I’m a member of the Association of Animal Artists and the Visual Artists Association.
