My art practice is a personal investigation into the severed connection between humans and the natural world. I am searching for a way to close this distance and make artwork that opens the way for viewers to feel that we belong within the natural world. We are not just distant onlookers. We are inextricably intertwined with the wonderous, miraculous flux and flows of the natural world and all life. I believe creativity is a thread that, if followed, can lead us back to finding our place within the natural world. If humans are to find a healthy, harmonious way forward, this distance must be closed.

My work comes from deeply studying and spending time listening to what the natural world has to teach me and the resulting images and ideas that surface in my mind.

Charcoal is my favorite medium. It has a mysterious connection with the natural world and with thousands of years of people’s drawings. Because of this, Charcoal has its own character that you work with in collaboration. Although I also love to work in colour to reflect the beauty and energy of the natural world, watercolours and pastels feel the most natural to me.
