I made this piece after watching a beautiful tree being cut down at my university outside the art studios. The tree was flung casually into a shredder as if it were just rubbish. People still think that we can control nature, as if we are not part of it but above it. Nature is incredibly powerful and has a savage side. We are better with it than against it. The work is in sustainably sourced charcoal.
