Title: A Friend
This painting was produced during lockdown to be displayed in the primary school in which I work to promote positively to the children when they returned.
Samson and Chase are Fish Springs mustang stallions, Nevada, USA. This beautiful capture (original image by kind permission of Nancy Florence) shows them greeting each other out on the range. Chase still lives free but sadly Samson, and his family, was removed by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) in 2019. Many mustangs suffer this fate and most end up in holding pens for the rest of their lives, some lucky ones are bought at auction to be gentled and trained but unlucky ones are sent to kill pens. I am moved by the plight of Americas wild horses, it is a complex and political subject, with many differing opinions. I am not political but I do want to try and help to keep them free from cruelty and out on the range. Some some of the proceeds of sales of these prints will be sent to The Pinenut Wild Horse Advocates who work tirelessly to manage the Fish Spring Herds so they can remain wild and free.
