I am Sue.

I found myself drawn towards painting/drawing in 2022 when I was sitting by a lake in Summer of 2022 and I was amazed by the wild birds and their beauty. This is where I did my first reed charcoal drawing.

In Autumn 2022, I succeeded in painting the Flying Scotsman and after submitting it to Artrepreneur. it was awarded a top 3 ranking in a Global competition “Machine on Wheels”. I also had my watercolour “Cautley Spout” placed at Nunnington Hall (a National Trust House) for the Christmas period.

Early 2023, I applied for various Open Calls via Curator Space and I achieved a few successes initially. This spurred me onto to try again with those with which I failed.  I had regular placements at the Open Gallery throughout 2023 and appearances on MetaSpace Gallery. as well as other digital on line galleries both UK and abroad.

Autumn 2023, I was accepted with my Art at both Kreiva Gallery and Fronteer Gallery.

In the  meantime, I started to paint with Gouache instead of Watercolour and enjoyed working with this medium and occasionally I would mix mediums (Watercolour, Gouache and Reed charcoal) and instead of normal Art Paper, I am using Cotton Rag, which gives my artwork a better finish. Initially, is was a difficult medium to work with due to the finish, but I feel now it represents who I am by the finished product.

I have focused since the latter part of 2023, on my “Mini Art Collection” which ranges from using Gouache on half A6 Cotton Rag or painting with Gouache on mini canvas (15.24 x 15.24 cm) and I find this very satisfying.

My most recent success is with “The Cricket Pitch at Follifoot” which has acquired a place at the Holy Art Gallery in London in March 2024.
