Robert Hamilton

Robert’s joy in expressing his passions and interests through the mediums of drawing and painting began way back in childhood. He went on to forge a lifelong career in the fashion industry, which still continues today, working with his wife, fashion designer Suzy Hamilton, creating and manufacturing exclusive ladies wear for their two boutiques—www.suzyhamilton.co.uk.

He studied fashion and textiles in his local area of Cleveland, followed by a BA at St Martins School of art in London. His love of colour, textiles and figure study were consolidated in those formative years and have now become fused in his art with his other passions, namely the Romantic Rococo and Baroque eras, the wonderful countryside of North Yorkshire and, of course, our canine friends!

Although he does indulge in some watercolour and acrylic landscapes, primarily of the highlands of Scotland, the bulk of his work takes the form of extremely detailed pastel and coloured pencil work exhibiting a magical naivety and bringing together all those elements of interest set against authentic North Yorkshire landscapes.
