I live in rural North Wales a stones throw away from the sea. Inspiration for my work is in abundance from the local countryside, walking on the sandy beaches, climbing green hills to paddle boarding vast open waters. I can always find something dynamic and absorbing to spark my imagination taking inspiration from my love of the outdoors.
Through my art I find a sense of freedom and the joy of non-conformity, sweeping, flowing lines mixed with vibrant colours bring me to a place of calm and clarity as the composition unfolds. The piece you see is not just a reproduction of an image but a work of texture, colour and movement that all comes together in a finale of emotion. I work predominately in the medium of highly textured and vivid acrylic achieved through the use of palette knives and bamboo sticks. I favour reclaimed Welsh slate as a canvas. The natural variation giving so much to the finished piece. I feel proud and privileged to be able to share all of this with you.
- Experimentation is, I feel, paramount to my work, without the courage to try something new and develop skills how can we ever feed the imagination? The only limits we have are those we set for ourselves; my art is a continuous journey of discovery.
