Amanda Burton

I have a deep-rooted love of nature borne from many childhood hours spent playing outdoors in the tropical climes of Malaysia.

I search for beauty when I paint, working in a way that respects and celebrates chance. The environment, events, relationships and feelings are always a point of reference though the paintings are not confined to them.

The unconventional has always attracted me and the challenge of mastering unusual material combinations is alluring. It’s a journey of experimentation and subsequent discovery.

Art is akin to a scientific process, it is alchemy, and I allow the behaviours and properties of the materials I choose to use guide my work.
