Inspired partly by walks I used to take down the River Aire in Leeds. I used to live just across the road from Kirkstall Abbey – one of my favourite places.

There’s beautiful old willows on the banks of the river, but they were really suffering in the drought-type conditions that seem to be more common now with climate change. So I suppose this is a future view somehow…

There were always huge herons around there, hunting near the weir and occasionally flying over with their spectacular wings.
