Title: Lumley Moor Reservoir Leaves
Two in a series of two oil paintings, interpreting the water’s edge at Lumley Moor Reservoir in autumn. I was interested in how the trees formed a ring of protection around the reservoir bank, from the open moorland beyond. I used thin glazes of oil paint to try and represent movement with the ever-changing weather conditions, the changing reflections and the twisted shapes of the exposed tree roots in the fluctuating water levels. The original painting was exhibited at ‘The Great North Art Show’, Ripon Cathedral 2019; and ‘Harrogate Open Art Exhibition’, The Mercer Gallery, 2019-2020.
