Title: West Pier Lighthouse Blueprint, Whitby (Cutaway Section)

To create these cutaway section illustrations of the West and East Pier Lighthouses, a tremendous amount of study and research had already been undertaken during the time I had been creating the blueprint diagrams of the same structures. My mission here was to create architectural illustrations of the lantern sections replicating the draughtsmanship skills and drawing techniques I had seen of lighthouses by the likes of engineers such as John Smeaton and Robert Stevenson. I wanted the finished results to be visually interesting and informative whilst being aesthetically pleasing and capturing a look of authenticity. The artwork was produced using technical pens on A2 size coloured card. One last piece of information to add is the name for someone who has an interest in lighthouses is a Pharologist.
