I trudged for three hours across the moors in heavy mist, unable to see a thing. As I climbed the slope to the shooting lodge on Denton moor, the wind lifted, the mist cleared and I was confronted by this incredible vortex of cloud. Ive never seen anything like it and I put off painting it for years because it seemed so unlikely!
