Title: Absence

Done after a request for an image for a snow themed Christmas concert poster, for Leeds Guild of Singers.

I was in an odd place at the time, with things going on and could only come up with cold, bleak images in my head. I wanted to aim for something atmospheric, sparse and semi-abstract, evoking a sense of something missing. It’s partly to do with the empty numbness left after loss.

It was a good opportunity to try out a couple of styles and techniques I’m drawn to. The oils seemed really easy after all the acrylic work, blending across the board and doing exactly what I wanted. I’m pleased with how this one turned out.
