Practice

My process-led practice centres on the transformation of found objects. My mother died in February 2023 which was the catalyst for resuming my creative practice. Many of my materials are sourced from Anglesey in North Wales, visited often by family and a place I feel a deep connection to. Dirt and decay linger, objects often incomplete and brittle speak of fragility, loss and the fleeting nature of existence.  An exploration of memory and loss formed from disorder made tangible through reclaiming remnants of the past.

The contrast between materials evokes a visual and emotional response that stimulates the creative process; an automatic flow guided by intuitive play and improvisation. Using hand construction methods a dialogue between object and artist is formed to explore possibilities that push the boundaries of materials. Unique structures emerge that draw on the intersection of past and present revealing new narratives and untold histories.

Studio

I work from my studio at Sunny Bank Mills. Please get in touch if you would like to make a visit and have a chat over a coffee.
