In my previous life there were numbers so when  I paint there are no rules and time limits. There is always an abstract bright blue sky and many layers of colour in the background. My art is created from a mixture of different Dales views that are in my head and come to life as I paint,  often changing each time I revisit with a new layer of oil.

My inspiration comes from walks in the Dales and flowers around my garden studio.

I always start with distant hills and peaks keeping them in the background (I prefer to look at them not climb them!).

Dry stone walls are the only man made structures I add since the patterns and textures seem natural to me.

Over time I add thick layers of oils adding bright blue waterfalls or patterns of stone walls, stepping-stones and open gates.

I always paint larger than life flowers at the moment I’m working with daffodils, poppies and Yorkshire Heather.

I want my paintings to fill you with happiness and make you smile as your eyes walk through the scene.
