My name is Christopher but I’m known, to those who know me on social media, as Alternative Normal.  That name was inspired by my autistic son, to whom I owe my becoming an artist (again).

I want to create art that’s inclusive, accessible to anyone who just needs a reason to smile today.  I find anthropomorphic creatures a perfect vehicle, providing me endless opportunities for joyful absurdity.  I’m fascinated by the subjective dialogue between art and its audience.  I love the interpretations and narratives different people read into some of my paintings.  Sometimes, I do mischievously add little prompts to encourage this – a hint of darkness here or an ambiguous reference there.  Other times, a painting is nothing more than the manifestation of a ridiculous idea that made me smile.
