I trained at Coventry and Cheltenham before settling in Yorkshire in the early nineteen eighties, working as a scenic artist in theatre, film and television.

The landscape has always fascinated me- from the scrubby heath to the vast Anglian hayfields.It is ever changing in the hues and rythms of nature`s and man`s intervention. These paintings are made in the studio from sketched studies, and are as much my emotional response to the world as anything else.

Some of these pictures take me years to make, and some can take minutes – after months of seemingly fruitless perspiration

At the root of my painting process is the attempt to understand the relationship between the eye, the hand, and the heart. It is all about looking.
