What's on

Start the new year as you mean to go on and discover what inspires print-makers around the world in the second of a series of talks exclusively for West Yorkshire Print Workshop.

Anne Desmet RA introduces “Scene through Wood: A Century of Modern Wood Engraving”, the exhibition she curated for Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum from August through November 2020, in advance of its first tour venue – the St Barbe Museum in Lymington. Anne’s work will be showcased at St Barbe from January through March 2021.

Anne has taught wood engraving widely, inc. at the RA Schools, British Museum and Middlesex University and is a former External Examiner in Fine Art at Aberystwyth University and at Kingston College of Art. In 2011, Desmet was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and is only the third wood engraver ever elected to the RA in its entire history! She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and the Society of Wood Engravers. In 2018, she was elected an Honorary Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford.
