If you’re looking for the perfect handmade gift for your best friend, family member or mom (Mother’s day is just around the corner after all!) or maybe you fancy carving (pun intended!) some time just for yourself – and why not… then this hands on course is for you!

Working with the simple process of linocut; a relief process where the surface of a lino block is carved away to create a multi layered ‘stamp’; you will create a posy of personally selected and carved flowers and lovingly print your very own posy – perfect as a card or art print to be framed.

Roses, daisies or beautiful bright tulips it’s totally up to you; your talented tutor will guide you through the whole process and provide you with some hand templates to print your flowers so that they can be ‘held’ exactly in the arrangement you want.

If you have a hectic life and have to squeeze your creative time into a tightly-packed schedule, our CREATE! Saturday Sessions are for you! You can have your weekend morning lie-in, learn a new skill and indulge your creativity, and get home in time for tea! All our workshops are suitable for beginners and are taught by expert tutors, and the price of the course includes all materials.

Your tutor : Jo Blaker
Jo Blaker is an artist & designer based in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. Jo works with pencil, ink, a craft knife & a range of other tools to create designs & art works that blend a loose hand drawn feel with a bold, minimal aesthetic. Featuring energising mottos, marks & motifs, Jo’s products offer meaningful ways to celebrate, reflect, connect & share. As a hill-walker, bird-watcher, pebble-picker, tree-lover & island bagger* Jo’s work is often inspired by the natural world.

Jo holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art & works on a regular basis with local venues The Hepworth Wakefield & Yorkshire Sculpture Park, sharing her love of playful creativity through gallery activities & art workshops.

Experience level
No previous experience is needed for this course, complete beginners are very welcome!

What’s included?
All basic materials such as paper, tools and equipment are provided. Other materials and printmaking papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to try something a bit different or take some materials home to try out.
