Come and spend the day with print-maker Jonathan Lawes and learn how to work playfully with screen print, developing and layering abstract forms to create bold, graphic compositions in a personal colour palette. During the workshop you will be guided through colour mixing ideas and work towards creating stencils and layering colours to create up to 10 individual prints.

Your tutor : Jonathan Lawes
Print-maker and designer Jonathan Lawes studied at Leeds Arts University, UK, and graduated with a BA(Hons) in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design in 2009. After spending the best part of a decade working for a design studio in Berlin; Jonathan has recently relocated to south east London where he divides his time between working as an artist and designing for a variety of interior clients.

Jonathan creates prints with a distinctly graphic edge, reflecting his love of geometry, shape, and pattern. Working in a loose, organic way, abstract compositions are formed and ultimately develop as his printing process evolves. He has a keen eye for colour and layering techniques, masking some areas off while revealing flashes of intense colour in others.
