My work is difficult to categorize and sits between different things; sculptural at points, but often the final piece is a photograph. At the heart of my practice is experimentation, a love of materials and meaning making.

Currently, I am using hand cut paper to create three- dimensional miniature installations or sets. I then photograph them and play around with the photo; painting over the photo and sometimes re-photographing the same image. Pink has always featured in my work, but it has become more dominant recently.  It feels like it holds layers of stereotypes and preconceptions.

My practice is rooted in process: I construct imaginary spaces through repetitive patterns that I either create by hand or using laser cut technology. The patterns are obsessively layered and manipulated, playing with depth to create different spaces that can be peered inside. I take inspiration from architectural spaces, re-imagining and mimicking certain architectural details, whilst creating an organic feel appearing to be continuously growing. The layering of pattern and detail masks and reveals at the same time, so creating a sense of uncertainty. It is this unknown or in-between state that interests me. The imaginary spaces refer to a psychological space of discovery and uncertainty. I am fascinated with paradoxes and like to contradict elements in my work.

The work speaks about adaptations we make as children, but the beauty that evolves, as a result. We Lose the self or parts of the self, because of these adaptations, but perhaps they lead us to rediscover the parts we lost and hold a beauty of their own. There are many central themes in my work that become more salient depending on the piece of work. Contradictions such as, covering or hiding but wanting to be seen, Integration versus disintegration, Intimacy and loss of intimacy are all integral themes that feature in my work.
