I’m a self taught felt artist with a love for colour, nature and hares.

I was creative from a young age, but education took me down the path or the sciences, where I have built my career in the NHS.

Now I am a Mum of teens and working part time I have suddenly found the time to go back to my love of creativity, drawing and wool. It started with a kit of a 3D felted hare I received for Christmas, and I was off! I started watching tutorials, and as I researched felting more I discovered artists such as Moy Mackay and Marmalade Rose and thought ‘I want to do that!’

I have now been wet felting for several years, and my work is starting to change as I become more experienced and bolder with my techniques. I particularly enjoy the expressive way you lay down those initial layers of wool, gradually building up different subtleties in colour and texture, which then leads to the needle felting for detail and then hand embroidery for the finishing flourishes. Having three phases to my work means I can utilise whatever mood or feeling I have that day, and work on the technique that suits, so I often have 2 or 3 pieces on the go at once.

Working from home I don’t have a studio so use any free table I can find, and often get asked if I need to take up the whole of the kitchen? Er ….Yes!
