By Background, I graduated in 2018 as a Nurse. Prior to University I studied Art & design at GCSE & A-level. I have always had a passion for art, in particular painting. It is a great hobby of mine that helps me to relax and unwind when i’m stressed, anxious or just if I have some spare time on my hands. In particular, painting seascapes have attracted me.

As an individual, I have always been drawn to the ocean; there is just something so calm and therapeutic about being at sea, with the crashing waves and the crisp sea air. The sea is my escape and gives me an opportunity to just switch off from the chaotic everyday life and just be at one with myself. This is portrayed in my art through exaggerated brush strokes, the different hues of blues, greens and turquoise and the different textures I create through acrylic and mixed media.

I also try, when I can to use recycled pieces of card, wood and other materials to paint on or use in my art. We are in a society now where we need to start reusing the resources we have been given, in order to protect our next generation.

I have lost count of the numerous amount of galleries I have visited throughout the past few years, in the UK and internationally. I am an avid traveller and enjoy meeting people and exploring different cultures from all over the globe. My most recent trip was to Sri Lanka where I was lucky enough to be by the Indian Ocean and converse with the locals who were proud to show off their beautiful country to me.

I find the best way to learn and improve my art skills is to talk to like-minded individuals who also share the same passion as me and who I find inspire me in their work. I have attended many art exhibitions, coastal galleries and sculpture parks all over the country ,talking to artists, admiring, appreciating and discussing their techniques and reasoning behind their art.
