Emy Spinks Art
Hello, I’m Emy’s support and advocate sharing her story with you on her behalf. Emy Spinks is a 28 year old autistic artist based in Selby, North Yorkshire. Emy was diagnosed with profound autism at the age of two and remains mostly non-verbal, Emy struggles to communicate verbally in conventional ways. However throughout her life Emy has used art as her voice and her way of connecting with the outside world. Although she can often find the world an overwhelming place, art can allow her to express herself in a way that she feels in control of and allows others to see through her eyes. Emy enjoys using colours, textures and patterns to add depth to her artwork creating abstract and unique pieces that are unlike any other artist’s works as they’re inspired only by the world through Emy’s eyes. Emy has always been keen to share her art with the world, starting with posting her handmade cards to neighbours as a child and creating smaller pieces of artwork. Emy now shows visible pride and excitement on seeing her artwork displayed and being enjoyed by others! Her artwork gives her purpose and from her studio space, she has created a career for herself bringing joy to others.

Emy lives in Cawood a village betwen York and Selby and has her own studio space in Selby
