Eloise Halliday

Hello! I’m Eloise and I’m a 26 year old teacher/artist originally from Lancashire, living in Yorkshire (flying the flag for the pink roses out there!). I moved to Yorkshire to teach English in 2019, but also to be closer to my Gran and extended family (who are all born and raised in Leeds). I now live in rural North Leeds, with my very patient and supportive boyfriend and our mischievous little whippet puppy – Lena.
I’m hugely passionate about three things: art, education and whippets (in no particular order)! I’m a very creative and innovative person: it’s my superpower!

I’ve always found real comfort in painting and have used it as a creative outlet for stress, grief, anxiety and happiness. A day rarely passes where I have clean, unmarked hands- they’re usually covered in the remnants of persistent oil paint – I promise I do wash my hands – it’s just that oil paint really sticks.
Painting for me represents self-care and self-expression. I have experimented over the years with many different styles of painting: I’ve done pup pawtraits (yes – I called them that) landscapes, portraits, drawings, abstract paintings, watercolours and pastel drawings. My style these days tends to be more loose and leaning slightly towards a more abstract, contemporary style. I’d say I’m fairly well-rounded creatively, but my real passion is painting with oil – I love the stuff! I love the way you can blend it so seamlessly, and how easily you can still manipulate it days later – that part really satisfies the perfectionist in me – there’s always room (and give in the paint) to improve!

Paintings are my way of paying homage to people I love and places I love. Painting is very sentimental to me – it’s an enduring form of expression, and so many of the subjects or scenes that I paint are very close to my heart. I hugely enjoy painting other people’s special places too; producing sentimental artwork that means something to somebody gives me the greatest joy.

I feel hugely grateful to have been given the opportunity to join this community of fantastic and passionate artists and will always welcome any tips or feedback as to how to improve my work. If you like any of the paintings featured on here, I can recreate something similar for you, so don’t hesitate to ask! Equally, if you have your own vision, I would be absolutely honoured to paint for you, so please do reach out – I am always open for commissions and I love a challenge, so challenge me! All my paintings are still available to view, so drop me a line if you’d like to view my work. Thank you so much for your interest – it really does mean the world to me. Drop me a line via the ‘contact me’ tab and let’s create something together!
