Working with a number of drypoint plates of different sizes and shapes you will experiment with mark making and building up surfaces on aluminium. You will use traditional scrapers and drypoint needles along with sanding and more innovative mark making approaches. The plates will be inked exploring a la poupee techniques and multi plate, mutli colour inking techniques. You can experiment with the arrangement of the plates to make different compositions .You will also explore transparent inks to achieve layering of colour and images.

Your tutor : Michelle Keegan
Michelle Keegan studied Fine Art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, graduating with first class honours. She specialised in Printmaking immediately having been intrigued by the possibilities of process, and exploring unknown ways of making marks. Michelle continued her post graduate education at the Slade School of Fine Art. She has made Prints and exhibited widely for the past 25 years, she is the Senior Lecturer in Printmaking at the University of Northampton and tutor for Printmaking with Open College of Arts. Michelle is also a guest tutor at numerous Print Workshops

Experience level
No previous experience is needed for this course and beginners are welcome along with those who have more experience and are looking to develop how they work with drypoint and or etching plates as part of their practice.

What’s included?
All basic materials such as paper, tools and equipment are provided. Other materials and printmaking papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to try something a bit different or take some materials home to try out.
